As we have already reported, the Szarkaláb folk-dance group from Cluj Napoca along with the ten members of the Ördögborda folk-dance group from Bălan and the Sóvirág orchestra from Gherla took part in a European tour during 6th-31st July 2007.
After the tour in Novi Sad (Voivodina), the team was welcomed by the ladin Gherdeina folk-dance group from the small town of Ortisei (South-Tyrol). During our one-day stay in the Dolomite our programme included hiking, dancing and making friends. We were also promised that the members of the local folk group would accept our invitation to participate in the tenth Szent István Folk-Dance Festival (our group being its co-organizer), which would be organized in 2008. The next stop of our tour was Mazamet in France, where the ‘Fanfares Sans Frontieres’ festival was held. On 12th July our team had several performances in various parts of the town and also took part in the vast evening procession on which one could find most of the dance genres. Our final destination was the 33rd Festi Maiorca International Folk-Dance Festival which was organized in Maiorca, Portugal during 13th -19th July. Here, the dancers of both folk-dance groups (Szarkaláb and Ördögborda) were successful in presenting their performances. Our team, together with the local, Mexican and Greek groups had several performances in Maiorca, Figueira da Foz and Ferreira-a-Nova. In our free time we bathed in the Atlantic Ocean, getting rid of the pains caused by the long journey and the performances. We made many new friends during this festival and we would like to return their hospitality by inviting them to visit us in Transilvania. On the closing of the nearly one-month long tour the 37 members of the team arrived to Budapest – through Barcelona and Venice – on 22nd July. Here they participated in the Budapest Festival – Hungarians Across the Borders Youth Reunion. With this opportunity the folk-dance groups introduced themselves in the ’Valley of Arts’, Horná zem – that is, Szarkaláb with its new repertoire called ‘Együttélésben’ while Ördögbordások presented their show joining the big team. According to the plan the group would arrive home by 31st July where it would be quite busy during August with preparing for the various village days, small performances. Moreover, our group was again an active organizer of the ninth Szent István Folk-Dance Festival which took place during 16-21st August 2007.
